International move from Massachusetts to Spain

Our experience with Rainier OS has been great. Doug has always responded our inquiries in a timely manner. The process, as well as what was included was explained to us very clearly, so there were no surprises or hidden fees. We had a minor hiccup with the destination handler and Rainier OS responded quickly and efficiently. Overall we are very happy with the moving process and we would definitely recommend this company to our friends.

Hi David,
Everything went extremely smooth.  Fantastic movers in both LA and Vancouver.  On time, courteous, and careful.  Great communication as well.
I haven’t had a chance to open everything up yet, but so far it looks like everything made it up in one piece.  I’ll be doing that over the next few days.

Hello Dave,
I just wanted to reach out to say thank you. The move went very smoothly from A to Z and I couldn’t be more pleased with the service received. My items arrived prior to Easter in great shape. The company delivering my items from Rotterdam was also very easy to work with and their employees friendly and on time. I look forward to recommending your company to anyone else looking for an international mover.
Thank you again.
Best regards,

Subject: Re: question

Hi Rick,

The delivery, accounting, unwrapping & placement of items in our condo was fantastic. Very conscientious and personable men. They introduced themselves of course, and asked all the appropriate questions: if we wanted items unwrapped, sequence of boxes/items into the house, etc. Took about 45 min. Also the truck exterior was exceptionally clean and the men asked first about the most appropriate location to park the truck as we have quite a few cars coming and going from parking lot (13 units). Great service.

Thank you for providing the Portland moving company references. I will contact them and request quotes. I also appreciate you constructing a pricing/quote for me as well and looking forward to receiving your email.

Best Regards,

Joe McNutt

Your move to Italy

Subject: Re: Your Move to Italy

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your email! Actually, I was just thinking to send you an email to let you know that everything went well and we received all our stuff. Although we have not unpacked everything yet, all the boxes are in good shape and the few things we did unpack look good. I would like to say that I´m very happy of how everything was handled from start to end. You (and Doug) were very responsive and easy to communicate with, and even able to manage my car export with such a short notice (just one week of our flight!). Also, your people in Boston were extremely nice and helpful, and I’m really thankful that they came to pick up our stuff in a winter storm day, which it was a really stressful situation for us since we were leaving the country two days after (I will send a separate email to them). And the same applies to the Italian part of the process, Skaiste and her colleagues were fantastic in dealing with all the paper work and the customs clearance process, which was achieved with no problems (I will send a separate email as well).
So, for all this, thank you very much! It is really of great help to have someone taking care of these things when you are moving and dealing with a million of other things. I know that you might use these lines as a reference for future customers, so I´m glad to say that I would (and I will) recommend your services to anyone planning to move to another country.

Thanks again!
Best,
Carlos.

Moving back to the US – Switzerland to New Mexico

Hi Dave and Carrie,
All went well with the unload. Thanks again for all your help. It’s been a pleasure working with you guys. I’ll certainly recommend you to anyone I know moving overseas.
Attached is a photo of the omission sticker for the Volkswagen. Attached are also two photos of the moving crew and me getting the car out of the container. If there was any doubt of how well the Swiss use bubblewrap, the picture of the mound of bubble wrap on our porch and all the boxes should dispel the myth.

Happy summer,
Noelle

International Move to Germany

Subject: Re: Your move to Germany with Rainier Overseas

Hi David,

thank you for your follow-up.  The US movers were outstanding and all shipped furniture arrived in excellent condition. Also, in comparison to the German movers, who unloaded the container, the US movers were speedy and more efficient.  Looking back, their performance was impressive.

The German movers arrived without  the right tool to open the container. They managed to open it eventually with alternative tools. The unloading was a bit slow in comparison. However, the German movers did put together our beds and dining table, although screws to one of the beds had gone missing, and the German movers supplied  some screws of their own that worked in their place, which we very much appreciated.

Also, one of the German movers was allergic to cats, and therefore, could not enter our apartment.  For the future, this could be better anticipated or planned for, when coordinating the shipment. We had moved two dogs and two cats to Germany and since they traveled with us, it seemed not necessary to mention.

Overall, we were very happy about receiving our shipment in good condition and just a little over a month.

Regards,
Stephanie

Move to Lisbon, Portugal

Subject: Thank you

Hello David,

I just wanted to let you know that we were finally reunited with our belongings today!  Thank you very much for getting us to this point. Only one broken glass  – so Avner and his team packed us well.

The Portuguese moving team did a good job too and worked really hard. The moving team’s van broke down this morning, but Invictus did a good job communicating ETA once I let them know nobody had shown up. Invictus generally did a good job on communication.  They had me scared when I learned they lost my consulate document and I feared we’d be camping in an empty apartment for a really long time. We grumbled a bit about the few days of delay and living in an empty apartment, but they still managed to get us cleared in a fairly timely fashion.  Fabio was very conscientious throughout the process.

Thank you very much for all of your help getting us through this and for your patience with my questions.

Have a great summer,

Monika

David, Sorry for the late reply. I wasn’t there when the container arrived in Germany, but I heard from Judith that everything went smoothly and without any problems. Same for the California side of the move, getting our stuff wrapped and packed worked perfectly.

Thanks for your help to make our move back to Germany easy & hassle-free!

Move to Scotland Review

To: David Wiviott
Subject: Re: Your move to Scotland – Rainier Overseas

Hi Dave,

Good to hear from you!  All is well – everything arrived on Sunday, the 16th.

Britannia emailed to warn us to expect the truck to arrive between 11:00 and 12:00, and I was looking out the window at 10:55am and saw them go past our lane (they missed the turn).  I had warned their contact in England that we were down a lane just big enough for two cars side-by-side, and that there was a heck of a bend in it, but they sent a rather large truck anyway. That morning the neighboring apartment building owners decided to have heavy equipment in to put tarmac down in their alley, so there was all sorts of heavy equipment in the lane, unannounced. (Who does roadwork on a Sunday morning????)  How the two Britannia guys got that truck up the lane to unload is nothing short of a miracle, but they did (I have photos to prove it) and were done and gone in 3 hours. I regret not going out to watch them back it back DOWN the lane, around that bend, again – that must have been something! We thought they’d have transferred our goods to a local mover in Scotland for the final leg of the trip, but apparently the guys brought the one big truck up from England and were making several stops in various cities, then picking up the next day to go back down to England.

Unfortunately, a good number of the boxes labeled “fragile” or “fragile! – glass” or “fragile, top load” were beat all to heck, but we only lost a few items due to crushing and they were mostly thrift-store finds  that we hope to be able to glue together again (definitely worth less than the deductible per box). Apparently less care was taken with the boxes on this end of things, down in England when they were uncrated, than at the point of origin.  It was pretty obvious that several heavy boxes had been put on top of some of those items.  I watched Sullivan Movers in San Diego wrap and put everything in the crates and they were exceptionally careful with everything, putting those “fragile” boxes in on top of the ones with the “caution, heavy!” labels on them. (Have photos to document that, too! They also got way more into the crates than we expected to be able to bring, so we’re really happy with that. That was some exceptionally creative packing!)

It cost us an extra 95 pounds (about $125) to have them bring it all up to the second floor, using our little two-person lift for all but the few large items. Britannia was good about taking away the wrapping paper and the cardboard from the bigger items – we wanted to unpack the 75 book boxes ourselves so we could sort and shelve them, so we didn’t have them take the boxes. We’ve been taking them to our recycling bin a few at a time as we put things away.  My daughter and I have got almost everything unpacked and sorted, and it’s looking like a nice cozy home here now. I have to say, it’s a heck of a lot easier unpacking than packing! And it’s really nice not living out of our suitcases anymore.

So, all-in-all, everything arrived almost to the day you predicted, the price was great. It pretty much cost what we were going to have to pay for the “self-pack, self-ship” service originally, too. I really wish I’d have found you before dealing with them, but glad we did eventually find Rainier! Would definitely recommend your company (and have done on some ex-pat boards already) to anyone.

Thanks so much for making it as painless as you did.

Best wishes,

Nan Daugherty

Hi David,
Everything went very well, thanks for asking. Things were on time on both ends of the move. The Best Guy men were amazing, very efficient and careful with packaging things. On the British end, Premier was very responsive and accommodated our schedule changes. Their men did a good job with unpacking things.
Hope you’re staying cool on the West Coast!
